Crime "City of Poetry" Interview with writer Martin Wronski, author of retro detective series "Maciejewski Commissioner" Lublin, showing the reality of the interwar

This time, completely different than usual, it was not an interview with the writer and the questions from the audience. I led a lecture on poetry and poets in the series about the Commissioner Maciejewski. I told so and Łobodowskim Czechowiczu, showing how different from them my heroes, whose originals were just these two poets. Differences are primarily those that Czechowicz died, and my hero Trąbicz lives on even during the occupation - is an attempt to show what would be next for the Czechowicz had survived. In arranging these forms I am interested in the flavor editorial, for example, comparing the fictional first-line version Łobodowskiego "Przyzwoitemu man" from the official version, which appeared in his book of poems two years later.
That is the case Czechowicz - as mentioned at Monday's meeting, which promotes "dramatic works" Joseph Czechowicz - his poems are very many versions and to compare them is needed tedious, painstaking work. And knowing that it is too difficult (there are numerous versions of printed journals, and has not kept a number of manuscripts), not even tried, and I took up Łobodowskim. Version of his poem posted in my book, dating from 1930 is different, a little worse than that which was published in volume.
This meeting was so interesting to me the same sample. He gathered all the scattered threads of poetry in my books and to my surprise, it turned out that there are a lot more than I thought. Of course, this small insertions, not a book about Lublin Bohemie artistic, but if you look at the three volumes of Zydze Maciejewski, it can be tempting to say that I was not the "City of Poetry" flower window-dressing. Besides, I told you how contemporary poets take to writing crime fiction - I mean an unusual anthology, where he Leśmian, Szymborska, Swietlicki Sendecki and published their poems criminal inspired motifs. The book is devoted to Chandler. If you believe the rumors - some poets are offended because, although they sent poems, they were not published. This shows how much interest among developers raised the topic.

Czechowicz planning such an event as the "vanguard of the invasion of Warsaw", can be regarded as the then "Town Poetry ", since participation was based on a number of poets in one event. The circle of artists associated with the poet went a little bit of poetry in small towns of Lublin region. But such collective events organized or Skamandryci. In Lublin there were no institutions that would have addressed it. The starting point for thinking about the city was more prosaic - a factory, industry, jobs. People needed money to survive, and only the surplus money could be spent on culture. Today the opposite is true, the industry is removed, and develop intellectual values \u200b\u200b- science, culture.
How do you rate our contemporary "City of Poetry"? Lubelski festival because of the quantities of events, modules, participating artists, is more like cooperation than a single organization. Obviously has its pluses and minuses. One wonders, for example, why you and not the other poets were invited to it. But on the other hand, know that you can not invite all the poets who have existed in Poland or the world. The second issue is the rank of the events taking place throughout the week - some are better, others worse. Of course I am not going to their estimate, because to do so, I would have them all to see. But different levels of events stems from the fact that poetry is something that takes place among themselves - is not enough load. The poet is the creator of a very specific - until you get some very important awards, the poet is a pleasure. Therefore, the "City of Poetry" is an event made by poets for poets and friends, unfortunately, very few people from outside take part in it, but I like that, at least hear about it, and poetry. Attempts to go into the public space of poets are doomed to fail but well, that in general they are.
If everyone thought so - in Lublin, nothing would have happened. I mean the defeat understood in this way: there will be such that even half the people who witness events, suddenly starts to read poetry.
But it is all about showing people that there are poets, set up and are doing well. About prove that Lublin, though often so unfairly judged - not a city where nothing happens. said Szlangbaum old - to earn a void, but that was a movement in interest. And I appreciate such activities as very positive - just as a movement in interest. I also believe that Lublin, despite appearances, has many in the field of culture. "City of Poetry" has the value that gives the opportunity to meet poets, who very often have not seen before in person. Now, throughout the week are pretexts for meetings. I talked today with Roman Maciejewski-Varga, who after 30 years again visited Lublin. He was delighted, not only the changes that have occurred in the city, but also the festival and the opportunity to meet poets, I had never had a chance to meet. It is necessary to emphasize the purely integrative value of the "City of Poetry". Poets whose poems print small, often niche publications, are known only locally, and someone who is familiar with us, appreciated and rewarded - in Szczecin can only be an empty name. With the Lublin festival, which, as far as I know, is the largest Polish event of this kind, writers have the opportunity not only to learn but also learn something about the poetry.
What is poetry? Used to test the limits of knowledge - personal, subjective. In fact, all the good lyrical poetry is, to say the same in different ways, in their own way. Some do it so interesting and creatively, that really say something that has not been said before them. Interviewed by Cathy
